Our lead Maxine Ramsey (no relation, center front) also sings Bari in SOS.  She and her husband Harry and two cats live in Mars Hill.

Singing Bari is Betty Jean Conard (center back).  BJ is also the Asst. Director of SOS.  She and husband Forrest and their often visiting grand dog live in Canton.

Our Bass is Sherry Sprague (on the right), Director of SOS.  Originally from Maine, she and her dog now live in Hendersonville.

We are passionate about our music and animals.  We hope you enjoy our unique sound.

LET INDIGO BLUE BRING THE JOY OF SONG TO YOUR SPECIAL EVENT!

Indigo Blue Quartet is an outgrowth of participation in the Asheville chapter of Sweet Adelines International, Song O’ Sky Chorus. Having lent our voices and decades of combined musical experience to entertaining at a wide range of events across Asheville and the surrounding area, we now want to entertain you.

We tailor selections to your event and musical tastes, and offer a robust selection of acapella songs including upbeat, love songs, swing, standards and more. As a part of our service, we can set up and break down our own high-quality sound equipment, which allows us to be flexible and perform at a wide range of venues.

We are often invited as guest performers at high-profile events such as Christmas at the Biltmore Estate, sports, civic, church, company picnics and corporate events. In a more personal vein, we love to sing at birthdays, retirements, anniversaries, as well as open houses and festivals. -- And of course, our Singing Valentines are a popular choice as a unique way to express fondness for loved ones.

Indigo Blue Bios:

Joyce Ramsey (Tenor) has sung in public since she was three years old and has been with Song O’ Sky since 2004. She has served as Membership Chair and currently serves as webmaster. Her vocal experience includes membership in two prior quartets, Choral Societies in Key West, FL; Greenville, SC; Charlotte, NC; and in Asheville. She is a new member of the Asheville group A Cappella Brewing.  Joyce lives with her husband Bob, an avid Barbershopper, along with their cat and dog -- both of whom seem to share their love for music.

Maxine Ramsey (Lead) has been a member of Song O’ Sky Chorus for 28 years. She has served on the board, volunteered on various committees and was the baritone section leader. Maxine is bi-sectional as she sings lead in Indigo Blue and baritone in the women’s chorus. She is active at California Creek Baptist Church as organist and also as a member of the church quartet. Maxine and her husband, Harry, reside in Mars Hill and have one daughter, Melanie.

Betty Jean “BJ” Conard (Baritone) grew up with parents who sang in a gospel quartet and she was the accompanying pianist. BJ has been a Song O' Sky chorus member since 1977 and has held most of the offices at one time or another. She is currently Assistant Director and not only brings her vocal talent to Indigo Blue, but is also our Barbershop harmony and chord expert. BJ received a diploma from the Sherwood Music School in Chicago, and is an organist at the West Canton Baptist Church. She is married and has one daughter, two sons and four grandchildren.

Sherry Sprague (Bass) joined Sweet Adelines in 1985, and shortly thereafter lent her smooth bass voice to a quartet. Over the past 28 years as a Sweet Adeline, Sherry has been a member of many quartets, achieving the “Most Improved” Award. Sherry has been a choral director for more than 20 years and since moving to Hendersonville, NC, is now the Song O’ Sky Chorus Director. Most recently, Sherry added quartetting back into her barbershop life by joining Indigo Blue. She lives with her Dachschund, Josh, and is delighted that Indigo Blue has brought her new music, new friends and lots of laughter.
